It took me quite a long time to realise that I was a lesbian, and even though my family is very loving I was still nervous to come out. I told my mom who got upset and told my dad. His response was 'well why shouldn't she be a lesbian?'. My mom did come around and apologised for her reaction, and my family has been nothing but warm and accepting to my partners. It means so much to share my authentic life and self with them. A weight lifted when I came out, and I hope that everybody gets to experience that peace and acceptance. I believe that you will, if not from your biological family then from your chosen family.
