I once found myself in a meeting, sitting next to a man who told us that he was gay.
I was surprised.
I had always believed that being gay is just a way of dating friends through promiscuity. That many youths engage in same-sex relationships for quick, easy pleasure. I believed them to be failures at life.
This man changed my perceptions about gay people.
He was a well-accomplished lawyer. It was not only what he achieved, but the way in which he narrated his life. He used words with the understanding of one who is well educated and established.
This is not who I imagined when I thought of gay people. And the way I see them has been changed forever.
