I am a cisgender male from ‘The Land of The Brave.’

I never really knew my biological father, whom I often refer to as ‘the sperm donor.’ Sometimes with love, sometimes not.

At some stage, in the not too distant past, I reached out to him. At the time I felt I needed his validation. I know I don’t need it, but that’s not the point right now. But it was back then.

During our relatively brief and isolated interactions, I realised that someone had outed me as gay to him, and I told him so. His response, despite his other short-comings, remains something I am astonished by to this day.

He said ‘yes son, I heard you are gay and I believe god created you that way, and I accept you as you are.’
